Day 1: Theory, Neuroscience & Environment (5 Hours)
Module 1: Foundations of Trauma-Informed Yoga (Philosophy & Understanding)
Defining trauma, its prevalence, and the lived experience.
The shift from compliance to choice in yoga practice.
The Four Pillars: Safety, Choice, Empowerment, and Relational Presence.
Module 2: Science of Trauma & Resilience (Brain-Body Connection)
Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and threat responses.
Brain structures involved in trauma: Amygdala, Hypothalamus, Prefrontal Cortex, Hippocampus.
The Fight, Flight, and Freeze responses in a classroom setting.
Yoga as a nervous system reset, post-traumatic growth, and building resilience.
Module 3: Creating Safe & Empowering Spaces (Trust & Agency)
Environmental considerations: Lighting, room setup, temperature, and predictability.
Building emotional safety through consistency and attunement.
Trauma-informed language: Replacing directives with invitations and options.
Considerations around assists, touch, and props.

Ariel is a 300RYT, 200ERYT, YACEP who has been practicing yoga for 10 years. Ariel is passionate about helping others feel more confident in their bodies, mind, and spirit.
Ariel is a small business owner of Golden Hour Counseling, a licensed mental health counselor, school adjustment counselor, and has worked in the field for over 15 years.
In her free time, Ariel spends all of her time with her fur babies, Gwen & Eleanor.
