Assistant Manager, Cafe Operations

About the Role:

This role’s goal is to develop into a General Manager for Phoenix Cafe.

The Assistant Manager is the steady flame behind our daily operations. You’ll support the Owner in leading a team with heart, maintaining smooth systems, and ensuring our space is aligned with the Phoenix Cafe ethos of intention, kindness, and flow. This is a hands-on role that blends leadership, hospitality, and creativity. You’ll model calm under pressure and empower others to show up as their best selves.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Responsibilities:

·      Inventory Management Weekly using Google Sheet

·       Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training

·       Organize and support events in the café

·       Organize and run social media campaigns for Phoenix Café daily with delegation to staff

·       Assist in creating monthly specials with flyers

·       Supervise café staff

Café / Front of House Operations:

·       Prepare and serve drinks and food and sell retail in accordance with café standards.

·       Maintain cleanliness and organization in the café area, including the serving counter, tables, and seating areas, locker room, and salt room.

·       Handle cash & electronic transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system.

·       Monitor inventory levels of café supplies and restock as necessary.

Salt/Sauna Room:

·       Maintain Sauna & Salt Room.

·       Welcome patrons and assist with questions or concerns.

·       Promote benefits of Halotherapy (salt therapy)

Customer Service:

·       Provide friendly, attentive service to café and yoga studio patrons, anticipating their needs and addressing any concerns promptly.

·       Offer recommendations on menu items and yoga classes, promoting a holistic experience for customers.

·       Handle customer feedback professionally and seek resolution to any issues that arise.

·       Cultivate positive relationships with regular patrons, fostering a sense of loyalty to the establishment.

·       Answer emails, voicemails, text messages from patrons.

General Duties:

·       Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning tasks and securing the premises.

·       Collaborate with other staff members to ensure seamless coordination between the café and yoga studio operations including cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.

·       Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required to stay updated on company policies and procedures.

·       Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating our values and mission, teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to pitch in when needed.

Qualifications:

Experience:

·       Previous experience in customer service or a food service environment preferred, but not required.

Passion:

·        Genuine passion for promoting holistic wellness and creating inclusive community spaces.

Communication Skills:

·        Excellent verbal communication skills.

·       Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. 

Interpersonal Skills:

·       Ability to build rapport, inspire trust, and foster connections with diverse groups of individuals.

Professionalism:

·       Reliable, punctual, and committed to upholding ethical standards and studio policies, vision & mission.

·       Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Certification:

·       Must obtain and maintain a SERV SAFE Certification

Physical Demands:

·       This position may require standing for extended periods and lifting/moving heavy objects (e.g., bags of coffee beans, yoga props).

·       Must be able to climb stairs unassisted.

·       Must be able to occasionally lift 50lbs unassisted.

·       Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, including dates, times, and areas cleaned, to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards and regulatory requirements.

Café Associate

As a Phoenix Café Associate, you'll play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming and harmonious atmosphere within our establishment. You'll be responsible for ensuring smooth operations at Phoenix Cafe including both the café and studio, offering excellent customer service to patrons, and assisting with various tasks as needed.
